V.R.C. MEETING.

fIEW ZEALAND VICTORIES.

TWO MOKE FOR VOITRK. • GAY CIRCLE WINS THE CARNIVAL. MELBOURNE, November 7. New Zealand horses, owners and riders were well in the limelight at the third day of the Victoria Racing Club's spring meeting at Flemington to-day, when the weather was line and there was a good attendance. The three-year-old Gay Circle, ridden by W. Jenkins, won the Carnival Handicap for Mr. G. J. Barton, of Dunedin. He is trained by the Wingatui trainer S. G. Ware. K. Voitrc added two more important successes to his record by winning the Oaks on Nalda and the Linlithgow Stakes on Valiant Chief, to whom the Aucklandowned Silver Jubilee finished second. The ex-New Zealand jockey M. McCarten won on Satmoth and Beechwood, while Link Divine, Martinborough and East Cape, all from the Dominion, recorded minor placings. Barracker scored a comfortable victory in the Flying Handicap from the New Zealand-bred Araunah, who is owned and trained by M. T. McGrath. Gay Sheila was never dangerous. Beechwood just held off a late challenge from Sir Geraint in the Byron Moore Stakes. The latter went a great race under his penalty. Martinborough was a good third and Prince Quex, a colt by Lord On ex from Princess Pat, owned by Mr. W. R. Kemball, made a promising showing. Be Id Blood, the brother to Sporting Blood, was never prominent. K. Voitre's clever waiting tactics were a contributing factor in Valiant Chief s victory in the Linlithgow Stakes. Hitherto, Valiant Chief has been regarded as a poor "sticker," but he won running away. Silver Jubilee had every chance. Synagogue led early, but finished last. Gay Circle registered a comfortable win in the Carnival Handicap, in which the three placed horses all hailed from New Zealand. Gay Sheik and Yilderim were prominent early, but failed to run on. Gay Circle has recorded three wins in his last live starts. Nalda, who was pocketed at the home turn, finished brilliantly to win the Oaks from Bimilla, who was last in the early stages. Salamander narrowly defeated Valsard for third. Nalda is a stab! em ate of Feldspar and Marabou, being trained by Jj. Robertson. It was the first occasion on which the one trainer has won the Derbv, Cup and Oaks in the same year. _ Satmoth took charge in the straight in the Veteran Stakes and won nicely. Korero and Limbohm performed poorly. The course was fast and several of the events were run in race record time. Results: — FLYING HANDICAP of £500. Six furlongs.
