GOLDEN WEDDING.
A social and dance tendered by the Flexile Guild to Mr. and Mrs. Dearsley to mark the attainment of their golden wedding, brought about 200 guests to St. Sepulchre's Hall last evening. Vocal items by Mrs. Skeen, Miss Margaret Fish, Mr. MacPherson and Rev. £). T. Olds, a pianoforte solo by Miss Jean Holloway and humour by Miss E. Woolford and Mr. Maurice Stitt, made a delightful programme for the first hour. Mrs. Dearsley then accepted a bouquet from Mrs. Spain, the oldest lady employee. Mr. V. H. Dearsley responded on behalf of Mrs. Dearsley and thanked the guild for honouring liis parents with this function. Greetings and congratulations were then expressed in happy speeches by Messrs. F. Bailey, H. Moore and R. Hansen, the latter calling upon Mr. C. McManus, the oldest male employee, to present the guests of honour with a chiming clock, suitably inscribed. On behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Rees-Jones, of Wellington, Mr. Bailey presented Mr. and Mrs. Dearsley with a book each. Mr. Rees-Jones, who was present, conveyed his greetings in a sincere speech. In reply, Mr. H. Dearsley thanked all for the organising of the function and for the gifts made. He spoke very feelingly of tlio Christian ideals which had been his guide both in family and business life. The guests then adjourned to tho supper room, supper being followed by a, dance programme. Mr. F. Bailey was host for the evening, Miss Schofield hostess, while Messrs. S. Hunt and A. G. Brindal were masters of ceremonies.
