ENGAGEMENT OFF.
MISS MEYRICK AND LORD HOWARD (Special.—By Air Mail.) LONDON, October 12. All is not going smoothly with the daughters of the late Mrs. Meyriek, London's former night club queen. Lord of Effingham and Mis 3 Kathleen Meyriek, whoso engagement was announced on August 29, are not to marry. It has been broken off "by mutual consent." It was also revealed that Lord de Clifford, who married Miss Kathleen Meyrick's sister, Dolly, has been cited as co-respondent in a divorce petition shortly to be set down for hearing. The case is that of H. 11. C. Burdett v. K. G. Burdett and de Clifford. It is understood the suit will bo defended. Lord and Lady de Clifford were married in March, 1926. They have ono son aged seven. Since the engagement of Lord Howard was announced he has appeared in the London Bankruptcy Court for a public examination. Lord Howard, who is 30, is the heir to tho Earl of Effingham. Miss Kathleen Meyriek is 28 and a night club hostess.
