COLOMBO AND CALCUTTA. At the usual weekly sale of Ceylon tea, held at Colombo on the sth instant, 1.850,0001b .were placed under offer. Quality showed a slight falling off, but proved very useful. The result of the sale showed that stalky kinds in common broken Pekoes were easier, others remained steady, while good broken orange Pekoes sold at advanced rates. Actual price alterations showed a firm market on commons and price broken orange Pekoes, a reduction of %d per lb on plain 8.0.P.'5, an increase of %d per lb on first classicbroken pekoes and an advance of %d per lb on fine broken orange Pekoes. Exchange remained unaltered. Next week's sale is expected to total 1,500,0001b. A report on the Calcutta sale, held on the 4th instant, showed that the quantity under offer at the sale amounted to 2,100,0001b. Quality was slightly improved and the result of the sale showed that commons were irregular, other grades unchanged in quality, with quotations unaltered.
