THAMES TROTS.

the annual meeting. pfljfßLE TO YOUNG ROBNEY. KOPU TO WEE MACHINE. The annual meeting of the Thames Trotting Club was held at Parawai on Saturday in fine though overcast weather. There was a fair attendance, and though the going was holding some good racing was witnessed. War Paint won the Thames Cup, and the sprint event—the Kopu Handicap—went to ■RTee Machine. General Sarsfield and Young Rodney were both in good form, each winning two races during the day. The sum of £5721 10/ was put through the totalisator, against £6880 last yggj*, a decrease oi £lloS. Public Right on Mark. Derby Fame was the only defection from the Turua Bracelet, for which King's Play, Rockella and Rayon d'Or were the popular selections, and the r.ublic were right on the mark, for they finished as named. Alexis broke at the start and Rayon d'Or led out from Red Hope and King's Play and passing the stands the order was Rayon d'Or, King's Play, Red Hope, Rockella and Winaway. There was little change along the back, but crossing the top King's Play ran to the front and was first to turn for home from Rockella, Rayon d'Or and Red Hope. King's Play held on to beat Kockella by a length and a half, with Rayon d'Or two lengths away. Then came Red Hope a length further back, followed by Winaway and Mazda.

Another Favourite Wins. Gipsy Light and Kewpie's Crest failed to keep their engagement in the Puriri Handicap and the favourite division comprised Kenworthy, Proletarian and Soma Girl. Roma Girl, Mapula and Pink Lady were first out and passing the stands Roma Girl was showing the way to Mapula, Proletarian, Kenworthy and Olax, with Pink Lady breaking at the rear of the field. There was no change along the back and Roma Girl Tvas first into the straight from Proletarian, Kenworthy and Mapula. Kenworthy then challenged and finishing on solidly got up to beat Proletarian by a head with Roma Girl only a head away next. Olax was four lengths away fourth and then came Mapula and Pink j Lady.

A Double Winner. The withdrawal of Rose Marble from the President's Handicap left six to face the starter, and the best backed were Young Rodney, Autumn Lu and Stalky, the favourite winning, and thus annexing both trotting event 3 on the programme. Great Sonoma, Stalky, Waskasu and Nelson's Glory were the early leaders, and when they had completed a circuit Stalky held command irom .Waskasu, Groat Sonoma (breaking), Nelson's Glory, Young Rodney and fAutunm Lu. Along the back tho last time Stalky was out three lengths in front of Waskasu, with a gap of a dozen lengths to Young Rodney, Autumn Lu and Nelson's Glory. Stalky, Waskasu, Autumn Lu and Young Rodney was the order into the straight, but. once in line for the judge Young Rodney came through to beat Stalky by three-quarters of a length, with Autumn Lu a length and a half away.

An Overdue Win. In a small field for the Kopu Handicap most money came for Bingen Chief and Wee Machine, the latter scoring a long overdue win. Bingen Chief tangled at the start, and the order past the stands was Our Peter, Pukemiro, Kewpie's Guy and Wee Machine. Kewpie's Guy moved up at this stage, and joined Our Peter in the lead, and this pair showed the way along the back two lengths clear of Pukemiro and Wee Machine, with Bingen Chief another six lengths away. Kewpie's Guy was first round the home turn from Our Peter and Pukemiro, with Wee Machine beginning to put in a run. Wee Machine finished best, and went on to gain the verdict over Our Peter by two lengths, with Bingen Chief a length away, third. Pukemiro and Kewpie's Guy finished as named.

An Easy Win. The day's programme concluded with the Kerepeehi Handicap, and most support was accorded General Sarsfield and Nelson Luvan. General Sarsfield and Nelson Luvan were the only horses to leave the mark correctly, and they really had the race to themselves, the pair racing on terms until half a mile from home, where General Sarsfield cleared out to win by twenty lengths from Nelson Luvan, who was a similar distance in front of Alexis. Mazda and Dillon Bond were next. Later results are:— TURUA BRACELET of £95. One mile and a half. Limit 3.34. I—KING'S PLAY, b g, syrs, by Blue Mountain King, or Peter Bingen—Buz Buz (Mr. W.
