FAT EWES SLUMP. FURTHER DROP AT FEILDING. OTHER VALUES FIRM. With the exception of fat ewes, which dropped from 2/6 to 3/6 per head on recent values, prices at the weekly sale at Feilding yesterday were firm all round. The yarding was comparatively small. Values were as under:— Fat Sheep.—A fairly heavy entry of only medium quality sheep was offered, the sale generally being quiet. Prices for hoggets and wethers showed little if any change, but ewe values showed the effect of quality and slacked considerably. Prime heavy woolly hoggets, 30/3; prime heavy shorn, 26/ to 28/4; good weights, 23/10 to 24/0; lighter, 20/7 to 22/10; heavy maiden ewes, 20/; prime shorn ewes, 19/4 to 20/8; good, 17/9 to 18/6; others, 14/1 to 16/6; light prime wethers, 23/ to 24/2; unfinished, 18/9 to 21/6; heavy prime, 26/. i Fat Cattle.—Cow beef of all grades remained at a pretty high level, good Jersey cows commanding attractive figures. Ox beef was not of the weight as at recent sales and showed, a slight decline. Heavy prime Shorthorn cows, £8 2/6; lighter, £6 10/ to £7 5/; well finished P.A. cows, £7 to £7 17/6; lighter, £6; good Hereford cows, £7 5/; heavy Holsteih cows, £6 12/0 to £7 12/6; extra prime Jersey cows, £6 10/; light, £3 10/ to £4 15/; good P.A. heifers, £7 17/6; others, £6 to £6 12/6; Jersey heifers, £4 10/ to £4 17/0; medium prime P.A. bullocks, £9 to £10 15/; vealers, £3 10/. Store Sheep.—The demand was very strong for best quality ewe hoggets, which were scarce. Wether hoggets were also in light supply and cleared well. Good ewes" and ewes found buyers at improved prices, Well-grown ewe hoggets, 33/8 to 30/4; medium lines, 31/3 to 31/6; others, 22/10 to 27/10; best wether hoggets, 23/9; average lines, 20/2 to 21/; small, .19/; young ewes and lambs, 34/6; fair lines, 25/ lo 28/7; unattractive, 16/8; good young empty ewes, 27/. Dairy Cattle.—The demand held very firm in this section, where the entry was lighter than usual. Good heifers were readily sold and best cows likewise found buyers at figures in line with values. Choice springing heifers, £5 15/ to £6 5/; good. £5 lo £5 10/; general run, £4 to £4 17/6; "backward, £3 to £3 10/; best heifers in milk, £5 to £5 5/; good, £4; others, £2 5/ to £3 15/; springing cows, first-class, £7 17/6; average, £5; others, £2 5/ to £3 10/; cows in milk, £2 12/6 to £4. Store Cattle.—Little change took place in values in this section, whicli comprised chiefly short lines and farmers' odds and ends. A few head of station lines changed hands satisfactorily. PUREBRED BULLS. ABERDEEN ANGUS. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") GISBORNE, this day. Widespread interest was aroused in the sale of Aberdeen Angus purebred bulls conducted yesterday on behalf of Mr. H. B. Williams, Turihaua Station. Buyers were present from many parts of t-ie North Island and a good sale was recorded, especially during the moriurg. Over 100 head were offered. The bul'e came forward in wonderful condition and the appointments for their display occasioned unanimous praise from the buyers. Bidding was very keen from the outeet and over 50gs was recorded for well over the catalogue, with S.N. 2758, sired oy Torque Rod of Turihaua 4025, making top price of 80gs. Prices in a number of other instances ranged from 60gs upwards.
