PERRY ARRIVES.
EFFECTS OF INJURY. Still convalescent after the accident which partially disabled him during his match with Allison in the United States two months ago, Fred J. Perry, world's champion tennis player, arrived in Auckland yesterday by the Lurline on his way, to Sydney, where he will take up a,'commercial appointment with the firm of Slazenger's, Ltd. He will play in exhibition matches to-day at the Stanley - Street.. courts. Perry said his injury had given him no trouble for some time. "I am just a contented business man on this trip," he added. "I will have to settle down to hard work in Sydney. I will be coming out here for two or three months each year and will work for the rest of the time in the London office." Perry said that his wife, Helen Vinson, was at present making a picture in Hollywood, and they would not meet again until he returned to' London in January, after he had played in the Australian championships at • Adelaide; early in December. After his matches this afternoon Perry left by the Lurline for Sydney. '
