NEW LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council was held last evening. The Mayor (Mr. Geo. Lawson) presided, other members present being Messrs. A. J. Jeffrey, Geo. Severne, A. Woolley, F. Carter, S. Hards and C. Drury. '
Auckland Centenary.—A communication was received from Mr. Ernest Davis, Mayor of Auckland, requesting the appointment of two delegates to represent the council with a view to securing general co-operation in the consideration of plans for the adequate commemoration of Auckland's centenary-in 1940. The Mayor and Mr. Severne were appointed.
Portage Road Crossing.—The council resolved to send a letter of appreciation to the Railways Board for the recent installation of flash-light signals at the Portage Road level crossing. The board will be asked to give consideration to installing a similar service at the Totara Avenue crossing, where the traffic, travelling over the crossing amounts to over 400 vehicles daily. Properties For Sale. —The council approved of a list of properties to be sold, through the Registrar, for undischarged rates.
Housing Scheme.—The matter of undertaking a housing scheme within the borough was left in abeyance pending fuller details relative to the Government proposals. Permanent Work.—-It, was decided to call a special meeting for Monday next for tlie purpose of considering an extension of permanent work in the borough.
