MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Manurewa Town Board was held last night. A full attendance of members was presided over by Mr. W. T. Cox.
Cattle Nuisance. —It was stated that numerous breaches of the by-law prohibiting cattle from being driven through the town were being committed in the early hours of the morning and late at night. An officer was appointed to stop the nuisance.
Croquet Club. —It being thought desirable to extend the . grounds, a strip of land 52ft by 35ft adjoining the present playing area was offered the board at what was considered a fair price. It was decided to accept the land on the terms offered.
Auckland Centenary Celebration. —Mr. E. C. Gray was appointed to represent the board on tlie committee to draw up a scheme for the celebrations.
Bus Services.—lt was decided to write to the bus company outlining a scheme for an adequate service for local residents.
Finance.—A statement of the expenditure for the balance of the current period was presented, and led to some discussion as regards future expenditure. It was pointed out that even if half of the outstanding rates, £1750, could be collected the board's desire to prosecute necessary works would not be stullified by overdraft regulations. On the motion of Mr. W. Ferguson the town clerk was asked to prepare a comprehensive statement covering the financial position.
