LEITH OVERHAUL.
ENGINES AND HULL COMPLETED. NO INDICATIONS OF DEPARTURE. With the departure of H.M.S. Diomede to nn unknown destination calm has once more settled over the Devonport naval base. Men from the Imperial sloop Leith have returned to their task of completing the first annual refit of their ship. In spite of rumours current in Wellington that the Leith is due to sail at short notice, the funnel cover is still in place and there is no evidence of preparation for a hurried departure. Her commander, Captain Oliver Bevir, arrived back from a holiday at Wairakei last night. The overhaul of the hull and the engines has been completed, and the remaining refit of the interior of the ship will be finished in a few days.
