CONSTABLE OBSTRUCTED.
TWO TOTTTTG MEN FINED.
"In future understand tnat it is your duty to assist the police and not obstruct them—they have enough to do without being obstructed," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court today to two young men who pleaded guilty to a , charge of wilfully obstructing Constable Ward in the lawful execution of his duty. .They were Wilfred Rathbone James McMinn, boot finisher, aged 22, and Herbert Eobert Kossiter, boe maker, aged 21. McMinn was further charged with mischief by wilfully damaging a silver badge and a helmet to the extent of 11/, the property of the N<e\r Zealand Government. Sub-Inspector Fox said that when the constbale was arresting a woman both accused tried to take her home. A crowd gathered and the woman struggled, with the result that the constable's helmet came off. McMinn then kicked the helmet along the street. Counsel for accused said that they had too much liquor, and did not realise what they were doing. McMinn was fined £3 and ordered to make good the damage, while Bossiter was fined £2.
