WILD CAREER.
MOTOR CAR AT PONSONBY. SERIES OF COLLISIONS. After striking three trees, smashing into another car and running along the footpath, for about 50 yards, , a motor car which must have been badly damaged in its mad career disappeared into the darkness ju6t after one o'clock yesterday morning. This fast-moving series of accidents began at the junction of Ponsonby and Franklin Roads. The car, a touring model, evidently travelling along Poneonby Road from the direction of Newton, first crashed into a tree on the corner as it was turning down Franklin Road. Then it ewerved across and collided violently with a parked car, owned by.Mr. A. Kenny, who lives in Franklin Road, forcing it on to the footpath and causing eerious damage, The car careered on down the footpath for about 50 yards, striking two more trees, and then disappeared down the street, leaving parts of a running board, pieces of broken glass and several bolts and pieces of metal in its wake. Residents and passers-by were quickly attracted by the noise of the impacts, and a police patrol car was brought to the scene. Inquiries made throughout the district have failed so far to.reveal the identity of the car's driver.
