The New Zealand ladies' golf championship opened at Heretaunga this morning in excellent weather conditions. jlu; tournament is marked by the presence of the members of the British team as participants. This morning was devoted to the inter-island match, and this afternoon championship and handicap foursomes are being played. Results of the inter-island match (North names first): — Miss O. Kay and Miss V. Fleming, all square. Miss P. Helean lost to Miss J. Horwell, G and 5. Miss W. Barns-Graham lost to Miss 13. Rutherford, one down. Mrs. E. F. Cook lost to Mrs. J. C. Tom pier, 3 and 1. Mrs. R. S. Fullerton-Smith beat Miss M. Beadel, 7 and 5. Mrs. H. C. Collinson beat Miss J. Stevenson, 4 and 3. Mrs. D. Stout lost to Mrs. McKillop, 5 and 4. Mrs. E. L. Baker beat Mrs. McCarthy, 5 and 4. South Island won four games to North Island's three (one game square).
