RUINS ON FIRE.

CABARET AT DIXIELAND. ECHO OF BIG OUTBREAK. There was an echo to-day of the disastrous fire which almost completley destroyed the Dixieland Cabaret, Point Chevalier, early on the morning of Sunday, September 9. Just after 11 o clock this morning fire broke out in a pile of sofas and furniture near the ruins of the cabaret, endangering the portion of tlie building that was not destroyed last month. The furniture had been put in a heap for removal. It is not certain how I the fire started, but a strong wind was blowing and there was great danger of | the flames spreading to the portion of j the cabaret that is still standing. The | alarm was given at 11.17, and promptly answered by firemen from the Point Chevalier and Western Districts sta- | tions, who extinguished the flames | before any great damage was done.
