GOLF TOURNEY.

DOMINION TITLES. TO-DAY'S FOURSOMES PLAY. MURRAY STILL PROMINENT (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star."), CIIRIBTCHURCH, this day. This morning for the first time since t the beginning of the New Zealand ->o!f t tournament on Friday last the strain was off, amateur and professional foursomes being played to-day. Further remarkable golf was pro- . vided by Murray, the new open cliamI pion, playing with Mcintosh this morning in the professional foursomes , Approaching and putting magnificently' ; Murray was in his best form, and his' partner was little inferior. As a result . the pair went round in 09, two better [ than Shaw and Bell. These pairs will r fight out the issue in the second round this afternoon. , Conditions were again warm and , windless, the sun behind the clouds I making the light ideal. Two rounds [ of the amateur foursomes are also bcin<r decided to-day. ° : The Murray-Mcintosh card, which was : three under bogey, read: —5, 4, 3, 5, 4 4 t 4, 4, 3 —30; 4, 4, 3, 2, 5, 3, 4, 4, 4—.'33' . The first hole was the only one of the outward run where they "did not wet . bogey or better. A "birdie" 4 came at the fifth. The homeward trip con- . sisted of three "birdies" and six bogeys, Mcintosh playing beautiful tee shots at the short holes, from which the pair secured two threes. An outstanding hole was the sixteenth (550 yds), where' after a fine brassie second by Mcintosh' Murray tossed up a perfect leaving his partner an easy putt for a birdie 4. The pair combined perfectly, though the first hole did not suggest the results to follow. In third place came T. S. and J. R. Galloway with a steady round of 74, made up of 30 and 38. The pair got even fours'to the sixteenth, where tliev took 0. Another stroke was dropped in a bogey 4 at the seventeenth, but a birdie 3 gave a satisfying finish at the last hole. The Watts, father and son. did not get going, taking SO, as did Blair and J. Forrest. C. Clements and Weir were never in trouble except on the greens, where their putts would not go down; otherwise their 70 would have been nearer to 70. At nearly every green they were left with an eight-foot putt or less to score one better than eventually went down on the card. The real crash was that of Ritchie and G. Forrest, whose round was 85. One of the most interesting events of the tournament occurred yesterday afternoon, when Dick. the Otago amateur, sank his tee shot at the ninth (152 yds). The Leading Amateurs. After most of the cards were in Dr. Ross and Sime had recorded the best amateur round in the morning, returning a line card of 72, after a 7 at the bogey 5 Land's End. Accurate approaching and steady putting gave the pair halves of 35 and 37. Land's End, ti>e fourth, was the only real blemish. Sime put his drive in a bunker, Dr. Ross was nicely out, then Sime hit the next out of bounds. A pretty "birdie" three came up the seventh, where Sime laid iiis second dead, and a "birdie" two followed at the short ninth, where Koss put his tee shot handy to the hole and Sime did the rest. A stroke was slipped at the eleventh, "out a "birdie" three at the next made amends, for there Ross put his second right by the pin. A 4 came up at the short fifteenth, when Koss' tee shot found a bunker, but thereafter bogey figures were recorded. A sound card in the amateur foursomes was that of Jack Black and Mortland, with 73. 'The pair went out in 39, dwing to poor putting, which cost a stroke each 011 the last four holes in, but they came home brilliantly in 34. Silk and Hornabrook were steady with a 74, made up of two 37's. This reflected steady golf, with a few putting' lapses. Dr. Gibbs was again associated in a crash, for, with Stedman, he carded SO. The Myers Cup, for the best net aggregate in the last two rounds of the open among professionals, was won by B. Stratmore. Professional Foursomes. The scores in the professional championship foursomes are: — First Round.—Murray and T. D. Mcintosh (>!), v. Shaw and Bell 71; T. S. Galloway and J. R. Galloway 74, v. C. C. Clements and Weir 70; J. A. Clements and Douglass 77, v. Stratmore and Butters 7S; T. Watt and G. Watt 80, v. Blair and J. Forrest SO; L. G. Ross and .1. W. Ross 81, v. Ritchie and G. B. Forrest 85. Amateur Foursomes.
