A SPIRITUALIST'S COMPLAINT.

We appreciate Mr. Gamble's apology, and thank your paper for takiug the matter up. However, we would like to make two points clear: (1) The theme of the sketch was eo obvious that the "Herald" reported it as "a brilliant comedy on Spiritualism,"< while the "Star" referred to it as "a sketch on Spiritualism." To this we have as much right to object on behalf of the many in our midst who have proved the continuity of life by the methods ridiculed in the sketch, as would any churchman should anyone caricature either the Confessional or the Communion. (2) Nothing is further from our minds than to make "a fetish of the plancliette" or any other form of Spiritualist phenomena, but, M every serious student of psychic science knows, these methods of communication (trance or planchette) should be handled wisely and reverently, knowing full well tha i forces that lie behind such seemingly simple and harmless manifestations. Therefore even if the plancliette is sold as a toy and by some used as a parlour game, it is no excuse for responsible people to encourage the youth of the community to burlesque these phenomena which under proper conditions definitely prove survival. S. OLDFIELD, President, Quest Club and Psychic Institute.
