TOURNAMENT DATES.

MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.

A report that everything was well under way in connection with the New Zealand championship meeting, which commences at Shirley on Friday was submitted to the monthly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association on Monday. Sir Alexander Roberts presided. The following new clubs were elected members of the association: Renown Golf Club, Renown, Huntly, and Strathmore Park Golf Club, Wellington. A resignation was received from the Talparu Maori Golf Club, due to nearly all of its members having Joined up with other clubs.

A list of entrants for the New Zealand championships was received from Christchurch, together with a considerable amount of correspondence with Sir Cyril Ward, the club secretary, and Mr. A. A. Boon the latter in connection with recording of scores. The secretary said that arrangements were being considered for the broadcasting of results. A letter was received from the Hamilton Golf Club in support of its application for the holding of the 1930 meeting and an application was also received from the New Plymouth Golf Club. The position now Is that the following clubß have applied for the meeting: Mnnawatu, Napier, Hamilton and New Plymouth, and a recommendation will be asked for at the annual meeting of delegates. In connection with the proposed interIsland and lnter-area matches, further replies were received from cluhs setting out their views. All replies received from cluhs will be available at the annual meeting. A letter was received from the secretary of the New Zealand Professional Golfers' Association enclosing a copy of a paragraph from a Scottish paper, and the council decided that It will consider every case connected with amateur status that arises on Its merits. An affiliated club sent copies of correspondence with one who had been a member of the club relative to non-payment of subscription and the council hnd alßo written to the person concerned asking lor an explanation. Considering all the circumstances the council decided that it appeared to be a case of hardship and considered that the club should take a liberal view and deal with It at their discretion. Following is the draw for the first round for the president's prize, to be played by members of the Orakei Ladles' Golf Club to-morrow, commencing nt 10.30 o'clock : — Mrs. D'Authreau v. LABOUR DAY TOURNEY.

PLAY AT TITIRANGI. The annual three-day tournament, starting on Saturday, October 20 and finishing on Labour Day. October 28, will be held this year at Tltirangi and entries close on October 21. , , The programme comprises the open medal championship over 86 holes for the IJ.islop Cup, and the Tltirangi Cup, a handicap match play event for the 10 players returning the best net aggregate In the medal play on the opening day. For those who do not qualify there will be the usual group competitions. In addition there will be medal and bogey handicap events.

Owing to the extraordinarily wet winter the Otahuhu Golf Club's programme, which would have closed on Saturday next, has been extended to Saturday, November 9. On Saturday next a Stableford bogey will be played by the gentlemen members, opponents to be arranged at the clubhouse.
