The weather was fine and the going good for training operations at Fleniington this morning. On the tan Hadrian did six furlongs in 1.17, the first four in 50%5, and the last furlong in 13%5. Bunnegal recorded the best half mile in 50s ; Profit and Gold Token took 525. Villius ran a mile in 1.44%. On the insido grass Preference defeated Princess Cynthia over a mile in 1.44%, this being the best time of the morning for the distance. Gipsy Princess did three furlongs in 375, and Vital took 37%5. Bimilla (P. Egan) covered a mile in 1.49. Gay Lover, who looks well, performed serviceable work. "Valiant Chief did a record gallop over a mile and 20 yards in 1.41% at Mentono to-day. He is to run in tho Caulfield Guineas, after which a decision will be niado regarding his spring programme. •Ho is engaged in tho Caulfield Cup, the "Victorian Derby and. the Melbourne Cup. An injury to A. R. Knox in Sydney has necessitated new riders being obtained for Hyperion, Journal and Young Idea in their Caulfield engagements. Journal has arrived at Fleniington. 11. Badger will ride St. Fervent in the Guineas. Tho Toorak Handicap candidate Evening Mist won the Spring Handicap at Kyneton to-day. Epigram was unplaced in the same event.
