EXTRADITION TO N.Z. ESCORT MAY BE SENT. t VOLUNTARY APPEARANCE ? (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mr. J. W. S. McArthur, who appeared at the Central Court, Sydney, 011 October 4, 011 a provisional warrant alleging the issue of a false prospectus in New Zealand, will be extradited unless he volunteers to appear here. The formalities otherwise will take some time, and if the Court agrees to his extradition to New Zealand an escort will be sent to Sydney. The first public prominence given to tlie ramifications of the financial group controlled by the Investment Executive Trust of New Zealand, Ltd. (Auckland), of which McArthur was the head, was when an urgently presented interim report by the commission set up to inquire into company promotion methods in the Dominion led to both Houses of Parliament passing emergency legislation on the night of August 9of last year. The legislation provided for the investigation "of the 15 affiliated companies. Simultaneously legislation was passed bv the Parliament of New South Wales.
The group of companies concerned were dealt with at length by the commission. which comprised Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M. (chairman). Professor IT. Belsliaw and Mr. F. E. Graham. A Royal Trust Commission was set ,up 111 New South Wales to go into the affairs of the McArthur group of_ companies, and legislation was passed in New Zealand providing for the winding up of 10 of the 15 companies of the McArthur group.
