VAN OVERTURNED.
DRIVER'S LUCKY ESCAPE. COLLISION AT GLEXDOWIE. A remarkable escape from more serious injury was experienced by the driver of a light motor van, which was involved in a collision with a heavy sedan motor car, at the corner of Massey Road Vale Road East, Glendowio, this morning. The van overturned and then swung completely round on to the hood. The driver of the van, Mr. ThomilS Ross, of the Glendowio Dairy laini» though jammed in the cab of his up* turned van, received only spinal injuries that are not believed serious and abrasions. A St. John ambulance made a fast return trip from the city, taking the injured man to the hospital. The result of an X-ray examination is not vet known. The car, driven by Mrs. M. Bolt, oi Ranui Road, Remuera, was going down the slope of Massey Road in the direction of the Glendowio golf links, and the van was crossing the intersection from Vale Road East when the collision occurred. The front wheel of the, van was completely torn oil', the engine pushed into the bodywork, and the si"® of the cab ripped away. After having overturned, the van came to rest on the opposite side of the road, its wheels ill tlie air and its radiator pointing in 111(5 direction whence it had come.
