WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
TE KAWA. The October meeting of the Te Kawa Women's Institute took the form of a social afternoon, when Mrs. S. Broadbent presided over a good attendance of members and friends. A bring and buy stall resulted in the raising of a substantial sum, which-is to be donated to the health stamp campaign. Mrs. Scholes led the community singing, and the remainder of the afternoon was devoted to competitions, the winners being Mieses Scholes and Knighton. The competition, "A Fancy Coathanger, was won by Mrs. Benton, Mrs. Coverdale being second. Hostesses for the aftcinoon were Mesdames Monk and Pivac. MANGAWEKA. At the October meeting of the Mangaweka Women's Institute two new members were welcomed and best wishes extended to Mrs. Johnson, who is leaving the district. Mesdames Pp.irman and Lawson were chosen as delegates to attend the council meeting at Taihape. It was decided to hold a street stall and a "bring and buy" in connection with the health stamp campaign. The secretary and treasurer were instructed to use health stamps on all correspondence. A round table conference resulted in many ideas to help the committee in making up programmes. Mrs. Gordon, of Hunterville, demonstrated home-made sweets. The senior competition for the best bulbs resulted: Miss -Crawford 1, Mrs. Oulsnain 2, Mrs. Pairman 3. The junior, for the prettiest bowl of spring flowers was won by Miss Rita Oulsnam. The hostesses were Mesdames Dalrymple, Dickinson and the Misses Dickinson. :
