ELECTORS WARNED.
ENSURE ENROLMENT. CHANGES OF ADDRESS. DECLARATION VOTE LIMITS. To avoid disfranchisement, electors who were about to move their residence into another electorate should enrol in their old constituency before doing so, said Mr. Frank Evans, Registrar of Electors, this' morning. "Before every election wo always get a number of persons who cannot vote for this reason," he said. "Three months' residence must be completed in a new district before the supplementary roll closes." Mr. Evans added that the method of voting was restricted to the two following classes of persons:—(l) Any person (a) whose name is ruled out in red ink on any certified copy of the roll to be used at the polling booth; (b) who is legally qualified to be registered as an elector of the district in which he desires to vote; (c) who is not registered on any other electoral roll; (d) who is not aware of any circumstances by reason of which his name ought to bo so ruled out; (e) who lias not already voted at this election. (2) Any person who, having appliod for registration as an elector at any time before six o'clock in the afternoon of the day of tho issue of tho writ, 'and having been informed by the registrar that he has been registered, has not been so registered. Declaration Votes. No declaration might be altered to suit any other circumstances, ho said. The votes would be counted only if the returning officer was satisfied that the declarations had been properly made. "As registration is compulsory, electors who are already qualified should make sure that their names are on the roll. If they are not on tho roll, application for registration should be made at once, and not allowed to stand over until the supplementary roll is about to close.
"Electors who are on the roll and who move to another electoral district, but will not complete three months' residence therein before the supplementary roll closes, will be able to vote as absent voters. Or, if they are not too far away, they will be able to vote in their old electorate as ordinary voters."
