BOXING MATCH TAKINGS. BAR REMOVED FROM WINDOW. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. While a professional .boxing match between Clarrie Rayncr (Marlborough) and Jack Jarvis (Taranaki) was in progress at the Wellington Town Hall tonight the takings, believed to amount to about £50, were stolen from the locked office of the treasurer. The theft was a particularly daring oue and had evidently been made with careful planning. At the rear of the box office is a window, across which there is usually a bar which prevents its being oponed either from inside or outsfce. After the theft was discovered this bar was found in the yard. Tho money was left in the office in a brief bag. being wrapped in one of the small canvas bags usually employed for the purpose. Officials of the Boxing Association were in the room for most of the night and when they went into the hall to watch the latter stages of the main bout the door was securely locked. Entry to the room was made»by opening the window. Later the brief bag was found burst open on the stairs leading tip to the concert chamber and the canvas bag containing the money was missing.
Tho Boxing Association will be p heavy loser. Tho takings enly just cleared expenses.
