WORK FOR 8000.
PUBLIC WORKS PLAN. DETAILS OF THE JOBS. AERO LANDING GROUNDS. (By Telegraph.— Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Publie Works Department, in conjunction with the Unemployment Board and the Treasury, is busy with the preparation of details of schemes for the absorption of unemployed at standard wages, and it is anticipated that almost immediately 8900 men will be placed on various works.
The preparation of landing grounds for aerodromes throughout the Dominion will be amongst the early works. J he. aerodrome at \\ hangarci will take 200 men. and it is likely that 50 men will be the first batch to start on the job. The gangs will be increased as the work proceeds, until the full complement is employed. The aerodromes at Waitangi, Rawene and, Dargavillc will .take ultimately another 100 to 150 men.
Proposed work on the Kaipara mud flats embraces 1400 acres as follows: — Knkutango area, 070 acres; Gardner's area, 300 acres; Parakai, 450 acres. Between 200 and 250 men will be placed on the Rotorua-Waikarcmoa na Road, which is to be levelled and widened. The work will be spread over three years. Four villas and a store at the Kingseat Alental Hospital will be built. Onethird of the cost will represent wages for labour, and nearly 100 iiien will be engaged. Other work is planned for various parts of the Dominion.
