M.D., of North Auckland, sends S.O.S. for a “Star” racing yacht. He likes the Tauranga 7-footer. T.F.L., Cheviot—l am sending down the second series of the glider plans as requested.

R.H., of Point Chevalier, wants plans of the Star yacht. Mine are all gone long ago, so perhaps one of the readers will be able to oblige.

R. 8., of Gisborne, sends In for the plans of the petrol motor. No, I have not had an opportunity of publishing these full size yet. Tarmac, of Parnell, sends along a lot of odd plans for distribution. I will sec that someone gets them. •

K.S., Westport, asks a few questions. No, a biplane is not. necessarily more stable than a monoplane. The advantages claimed for biplanes are mostly constructional. Better bracing of the wings is possible, machines can be hangared in smaller spaces, while monoplanes are cleaner cut, less resistance, and are slowly ousting the biplanes in favour. No, propellers on large ’planes are usually geared down, not up, for the simple reason that whilst most engines arc more efficient at Die higher revolutions, propellers lose elllciency over the 2000 r.p.m. mark, in the Wakefield Cup the wing area must not be under 190 square inches or over 210 square inches, and the machine must weigh at least l-50oz for every square inch wing area. I will send you forms for Joining the Model Flying League. K.S. sends S.O.S. for plans of a Lockheed Vega.
