Two sharp earthquakes were experienced at Whakatane at 3 o'clock and 3.30 yesterday morning. The first was preceded by a distinct bump, but neither was of long duration and no damago was reported.

As the result of falling from_ her bicycle on her wav to work, it is believed, Miss Winifred Miller, aged 22, of (>2, Orakei Road, Reinuera, was found lying in a semi-conscious condition 'J' Remuera Boad, near Westbourne Road, by a passing motorist about 7-30 yesterday morning. Her machine, undamaged, was lying nearby. Miss Miller w«6 taken to the Auckland Hospital suffciing from concussion ami a fractured arm. Her condition is satisfactory.
