FAST BRITISH TRAIN.

SPEED OF OVER 100 M.P.H. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 0.30 a.m.) RUGBY, September 24. The new streamlined express Silver Jubilee, which the L.N.E.R. is putting into service between London and Newcastle next Monday, underwent trials yesterday in which the engine maintained a speed of over 100 m.p.h. for over six miles down falling grades, the maximum speed recorded being a fraction over 101 m.p.h.

On the reverse run the engine reached the summit at 72 m.p.h.*
