SPECIAL COMPETITIONS RESULTS.

GOOD ENTRIES FROM BOYS. I think boys must like having competitions all to themselves, as for the recent special competition there were far more entries than is usual from our boy members. 1 hese S sentences were very well done, and one or two of them deserve special mention. fhe three winning entries, which have been awarded prizes of fountain pens, came from Ross Yetton, Alan Austin and Bert Boswell, and of those Ross work was the best in sense, length and style. Among the certificate winners Jack Chalcraft departed from the usual routine and wrote an S poem, a short verse on spring in which every word began with the letter S.

In the sewing competition specially designed for them, the girls kept up the usual good standard of their work. Edna Pollington's was perhaps the very best picture received, with Madge Parkes a close second. Joan Brinkman added a little spring border of pixies, lambs and chicks to her entry. The work of Elizabeth Tunks, Nancy Parkes and Margaret Smith is also very highly commended.
