RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. Tlie Kielnnoml Cruising Club held their twenty-sixth aununl meeting last evening lu the clubhouse, Sloan's Beach, I'ousonby, .Mr. J as. Donald presiding over a big attendance. The annual report presented by the secretary, -Mr. K. L. Bowdeii. stated that the past season had been a good one, the racing fixtures were well contested,._and the handicapping resulted in close, finishes. In addition to the usual live fixtures, a sweepstake race, held prior to opening day, proved popular. The club's regatta on .March Hi was an outstanding success. SU boats fakirs part, an increase of! 20 over the. previous year. The flagship, the scow Motltl, was well patronised. Keen interest was taken in the naval whalers' race, eight boats from the Australian Naval Squadron, then lu port, competed, the winner being 11.M.5. Sussex's whaler. The total entries for the season were 259. The club was represented in the l.ipton Cup, Trcvic Shield, Clare trophy, and inter-club whalers' race with fair success. Mr. Ernest Davis, Mayor of tho city, attended tlie annual prize giving, which was also a success, the regatta prizes, which were paid in cash, being very acceptable. The thanks of the club were tendered tn tlie patron, president anil all who had assisted to make the past season a record one.
The balance-sheet submitted by Mr. N. H. Hope, lion, treasuie.r, showed receipts totalling £135 17/5, which left a credit balance of £ -14 10/3 on the year's work. The assets were valued at £ 80S with no liabilities.
Air. .las. Donald when proposing the adoption of the report and balance-sheet said they rellected crec!it on the ollicers and committee, lie was pleased that the club was in such a sound position and the best thanks of members were due to all who hail worked in the interests of tlie club. Air. Jas. I.ongbottom endorsed Iho chairman's remarks.
The election of officers for the coming season resulted as follows:—Patron, Air. W. ,T. Iloldsworth; vice-patron, Air. J. Umgbottom; president. Air. Jas. Donald; vice-presidents, as last year; commodore, Air. G. F. Bellve; vlee-comniodore, Mr. AI. Thompson; rcuir-commodore. Air. C. Edmunds; lion, secretary, Air. R. L. Bowden ; lion, treasurer, Air. L. Phllpot; clubhouse captain, Air, Rolph J mid; assistant, Air. L. Phllpot; hon. solicitor, Air. lj. Simpson; auditors, .Messrs. J. Longbottom and K. Downes; measurers, -Messrs. Vince. Ilogan and 1,. I'hilpot; delegates to Yacht and Alotor Boat Association, Alcssrs. ti. 10. haycock anil AI. Hill; committee, Alessrs. V. Ilogan, N. Hope, K. Simmouds, U. Humby, Hon. Judd, J. Holland, D. Lachlan, U. Lendrum and It. A. Thorpe. The subscription was lixed at 3/. Seventeen new members were elected and several trophios promised for the coming season, including one from Air. J. Bridgeu for the ISft class.
Air. Jas. Donald presented a billiard table for the clubhouse, and was heartily thanked by the commodore, Air. Bellve. Votes of thanks to the outgoing officers and committee and to tho Press concluded the business.
