Hats Resemble Platters. Extremely flat hats resembling circular platters, come in taffetas with the under-brims in white or pastel o^ mMt devastating of the ho„- ™ e o i haa emerged. Other colour, .re available. All models are worn far back on the head, showing curls and waves over the cheeks and earn. Pastel-coloured oeaj„ear, especially with tweed and faycy weaves in thin wools, is highly popular. Ether 7° contrast or to harmonise some fovely soft yellows, raspberry reds, pale Sens and all kinds of powder and baby-blue tones are the most distinc tive. Most of them have bnms Hats for the country are apt to be» beret* worn Tam-o-shanter style, of clotn, or taffetas—or perhaps a knitted cap with a square crown or a point on top. Or those felt hats, with ratliei masculine medium brims. The Importance of Taffetas. Taffeta is so fashionable, you know; you can wear it morning, noon and ni-ht. After taffetas come the pastel tweeds in the love-in-the-mist and w3-violet shades. For evening together with taffetas, you have the oauzy materials, chiffons, laces, nets, organdies. Plain chiffon is gathered, shirred, bunched. Crepe and glazed chintzes in the most delightful designs are amon 0 the fabrics used for simple dresses, while "star" and "cigarette" prints feature aniono- the novelties. Black is favoured for afternoon, and waxed tuber roses adorn dresses " and corsages. It is sharp contrast to these modern clothes that such old-world accessories as the little sunshades on long handles and fans are being introduced. House Robes. Crisp house robes are being made of pastel-tinted moire silk. They are tailored like flannels; have patel pockets on the hips, and a tie-belt The same silk makes the smartest of loungi„„ pyjamas also. For evening, women are wearing strange jewels: Diamond "curls," shaped like wood shavings, diamond earrings that cover the whole of the ear, and the craze for multi-coloured crystal stars continues. Jewels and flowers are seen adorning women in the evening. Hair parted in the middle is the latest craze, with a jewelled motif tracing the parting. Hair is also seen pushed well back off the forehead, with ribbon trimmings at the sides and covering the ears. Sports Clothes. The sports clothes seen this season are practical and smart. They play up antelope and felt, which are used for jackets, three-quarter coats or wide belts, in combination with attractive rough tweed. More formal sftits and afternoon ensembles go in for snort plaid jackets or capes to widen the upper silhouette. Short jackets like small boy reefers are seen. They are extremely youthful, neat and simple. The very youthful will be pleased with the perky little jumper dresses in striped tricot, usually having full sleeves and a cat's-whiskers bow of white cloque under the chin. , , , , Older women must choose clothes that approach the fashion problem with a certain dignity. An amusing touch, where tailor niades are concerned is the leather belt adorned with a flat bouquet of bright coloured flowers.
