JUDGES DIFFER.
PARKERS FOR OVERSEAS. SHOW RING AND SMITHFIELD. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DAIIGAVILLE, this day. Exhibited and judged in the cxporclauses at the Northern Wairoa agricultural show in February, 18 porkers were afterwards judged upon hooks at the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company's Moerewa works and were then shipped to Sinithlield, where they were again judged. Returns just to hand show that the prizewinners in the show ring were not placed when judged at Moerewa nor when judged at Smithfield, different porkers being awarded the prizes. The competition was judged in three sections, each of five sub-sections. The result was: Alex. Thompson (Waihue) 1, Stan Smith (Arapohue) 2, Roy Stoddart (Awakino Point) 3. The average marks for the 18 porkers was 76 out of a possible 113. The judging was done by Mr. Jas. B. Swain, of tne firm of A. H. Simons and J. B. Swam, who had said that the parcel as a whole was very good. The skin of 12 pigs wa3 excellent, the colour was good, every carcase gaining maximum points, and the dressing of the carcases was on the whole good except where carcases lost marks owing to scratches. Scratches, said the judge, were a frequent occurrence and attention would have to be given to prevent it. While all the pigs were genet ally well covered, two were too fat for their size, and the length of loins was inclined to be short in practically all the pigs.
