The question as to what is the most suitable and acceptable trophy for a race l S c-. a I 7 ia ty;? r frequent occurrence (says 'Sentinel' in the Otago "Daily Times' 1 ). It is a matter of opinion, but the most suitable presentation for some in control of racing would be an alarm clock to wake them up to the fact that the days of autocratic control are over. Not so very long ago an owner discussed the important question of traveling expenses with the secretary of a racing club. The reply the owner received was: "We don't want you; we can do without you." Can anyone imagine a more autocratic and tactless reply to an owner-trainer of eight or ten horses?
