MANUREWA NOTES,
VALEDICTORY SOCIAL. > Last Wednesday night a surprise party visited Mr. A. I'. Deeble at his Jiome in McVilloy Road, Ilokmai, in order to farewell him. Mr. Deeble, who has resided in Homai for the past ten years and has been a resident of New Zealand for 30 years, is sailing for England on Friday next by the Marama to take up his residence there permanently. Musical items, vocal and instrumental, helped to make a very enjoyable evening. After supper Mr. J. Dreardon, on behalf of the subscribers, made Mr. Deeblc a present of a handsome travelling rug and a pair of gloves, and concluded by wishing Mr. Neeble a safe and happy passage Home. Mr. Deeble thanked all for their handsome presents and for the expressions of good will.
