REGISTERED UNEMPLOYED. 4700 FEWER THAN LAST YEAR, (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The report of the Unemployment Board on the registrations of unemployed as at August 31 reveals the comparatively small increase in the total number of males wholly or partly the charge on the Unemployment Fund. The total of 55,225 represents an increase of only 654 on the corresponding figure recorded at the beginning of the month. The increase during the previous four-weekly period was just over 2000. The number in receipt of part time employment under scheme No. 5, or on sustenance in lieu of relief work was 40,105, as compared with 38.915 in September, 1934, an increase of 1250. The number in full-time employment but assisted by wages subsidies from the Unemployment Fund was 18,001, as compared with 24,097 a year ago, a, decrease of 0036. This makes the total number who are a charge on the fund 58,225, as compared with 63,012 a year ago, a reduction of 4757.
