The railway working account coverin- the four-weekly period ended Angus. 17 shows a decrease of £04,0 m net revenue as compared with the corresponding period of last year. A working profit of £19,055 compares with a profit of £25,525 last year. The gross revenue for the period was £401,904, which was £21,820 more than last year, and expenses were increased by £23,290 to £442,849. The operating account for the North Island lines shows a revenue of £241,928, an increase of £13,0(34, and expenses totalling £240,363, an increase of £15,905. There was a profit of £1505 compared with £7409 last year. The receipts of the South Island railways were £168,211, an increase of £8408, and expenses were £172,678, an increase of £9009. There was a loss of £4467, compared with a loss of £3866 last year.
