BUSINESS RATHER QUIET. MANY LINES NEGLECTED. Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange lias been rather quiet over the last 24 hours, and turnover has been small. At this morning's call bidding was slow and many lines were neglected by buyers. This was especially noticeable in banks, insurances, wool and timber sections. Amongst the banks, Commercials were steady between 16/4 and 16/6. Reserves seemed easier, and offers to sell at £6 10/ failed to bring any response from buyers. New Zealands had fresh business at £2 10/9, with more available at that ligurc, but buyers retired to £2 10/6. Goldsbroufeh, Morts were on offer at £1 11/', bringing in a buyer at £1 10/. Colonial Sugars were firm, with buyers at £43 and no sellers. Government stocks were in good demand at late rates and with few sellers. The rise in Emperor mines was checked, the shares being on sale at £1 19/6, with no buyers. An Easier Tone. A fairly general easier tone was evident at noon. Bank of New Zealands, however, were firm, with later quotations 3d on each side of the market rate. For Auckland Gas buyers raised their offers to £1 5/9. In the miscellaneous group Farmers' Trading -ordinary shares attracted offers of 6/8. Holders of Mount Morgan came in at the reduced price of £1 17/3, which, was 6d above buyers' limits. COMPLETED.
