RECEIVER GAOLED.
MAN ON SUSTENANCE PAY. "WORSE THAN A THIEF." Sentence of six months' imprisonment —three months on each of two of seven charges of receiving stolen property, the terms to be cumulative, was imposed by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., upon Charles Thomas Graydon, a middle-aged man, on sustenance, in the Police Court today. Graydon, who appeared 011 summons, denied all the charges. Evidence was given by a boy of 15, at present an inmate of the receiving home, that he stole cycle parts and sold them to Graydon. The prices he was paid ranged from 1/ to 6/. Graydon (to the boy): Did I ask you if you got them honestly?— Yes you did. I told you that I did. Graydon said he had 110 knowledge that the parts were dishonestly obtained. However, after hearing the evidence of two detectives, the magistrate sent Graydon to prison. "You are worse than a thief to encourage a boy to steal," said Mr. Hunt to Graydon.
