CASE OF ORANGES TAKEN.
The theft of a case of oranges, valued at 17/, the property of Produce Markets, Ltd., was admitted by Percy Hugh Rankin, who appeared on summons in the Police Court to-day. ! Sub-Inspector Fox said Rankin pur- • chased one of a line of four cases of | oranges, sold at the markets on August 20. Another purchaser later missed a case, and on a search being made two cases instead of one were found in defendant's car. At first Rankin said he was taking the extra case to deliver for a man for whom he had other goods, but later he admitted that he had taken tho case. Mr. Newberv, for Rankin, asked for leniency, pointing out that he left the rase in his oar for everybody to see. He i was a married man with a wife and two children and felt his position very keenly.
