KEAS FOR THE ZOO.
Of a consignment of 11 keas forwarded from Cromwell, 10 have arrived at the Auckland Zoo, one bird having died on the trip north. The number of keas at the zoo had been reduced to a single bird, and it was thought advisable to secure a fresh supply, as the City Council receives requests from time to time from America, Australia and other places for the birds in exchange for other exhibits. The council is at present negotiating with Santiago for spider monkeys, pumas and racoons, but, no finality has yet been reached in the matter. I
