BUSINESS STILL QUIET.

AUCKLAND GAS FIRMER.

Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange continues rather quiet. At this morning's call Auckland Gas improved slightly with a sale at £1 5/10, after which the market rested between £1 5/0 and £1 6/. The banking section was featureless, and the same remark applies to insurances. Government stocks were in demand for all issues, but buyers kept closely to recent limits. Amalgamated Bricks (.Wellington) were easier, and the debentures changed hands at £103 10/, a drop o£ 15/. Berleis (N.Z.) registered a sharp vise, a sale being made 4/ higher, at £3. Buyers remained in at £2 IS/, while holders rose to three guineas. Xew Zealand Breweries were on offer at £2 12/0, but there were no sellers. The Noon Call. An improving note was noticeable at the noon call, and values were advanced in quite a few instances. The banking section remains steady. In Xew South Wales an advance of 5/ by buyers, to £32 5/, attracted holders at £32 15/. The sales list, taken generally, was quite on a par with recent values. Dominion Breweries are regaining their former values, and a sale took place at 16/9. this representing an advance of 9d on the last sale. The market closed with buyers in at IG/9 out holders stood out.
