OHINEMURI JOCKEY CLUB.
j THE ANNUAL MEETING. In marked contrast to previous occasions, the fifty-ninth annual meeting of the I Ohinemuri Jockey Club, which was held jat Paeroa on Saturday evening, was a very quiet one. The report recorded a satisfactory year, despite the wet weather experienced on race clays. The total isator receipts showed an increase and the loss on the year's working was £71 if, after allowing £400 for depreciation, as compared with a loss of £744 in the previous year. The permanent improvements to the racing track had proved more costly than anticipated, the contract having to be completed bv day labour at a total cost of £2030. Both tracks had been completed and would be used for the Taumarunui meeting on September 28 and 30, but the formal opening would be at the club's own meeting in March, in conjunction with the diamond jubilee celebrations. The agreement with the Taumarunui Racing Club had at last been finalised on a satisfactory basis and had been approved by the Auckland District Committee, the 2\ew Zealand Racing Conference and the Minister oi Internal Affairs. Last year's meeting for the Taumarunui Club had returned it just about £1000. The ballot for the election of four members of the committee resulted in the retiring members being elected, namely: Messrs. F. E. Flatt (51 votes), E. P. Fathers (49), ,T. Ryall (40) and J. Clarkin (45) The unsuccessful candidates were: Messrs. E. Edwards (44), H. A. Julian (441, W. K. Morrison (43) and 11. Dent (42).
