DANCING AND CARDS.
OTAHUHU RETURNED SOLDIERS. A bright and happy function was the dance and card party held by the committee of the Otahuhu and District Returned Soldiers' Association, in the Mangere East Hall, last evening. An appropriate but festive air was given the hall by tho dra.ping of the walls'with flags and bunting. The duties of masters of ceremonies were ably carried out by Messrs. M. J. Barrett and W. Best, while Mr. W. Morton supervised the card tables. McCrory's Orchestra played the da-nce music. The president of tho Returned Soldiers' Association, Mr. M. J. Barrett, presented the prizes won at Cards. Tho following were the winners: Bridge, ladies, Mrs. A. T. McLaren 1, Mrs. C. E. Turner 2; gentlemen's, Mr. Gardiner 1, Mr. \V. Cowper 2; 500, ladies, Mrs. R. Statham; gentlemen, Mr. Douch. Supper was served by an energetic committee of returned men. Those present included: Mesdames Thos. Patterson, E. Clarke, IT. Priest, A. Stewart, E. J. Webb, E. Kemplay, M. Campbell, L. Ewan, F. 11. Leslie, H. G. Verrall, P. Craft, C. Stinton. H. P. Lovell. R. Statham, A. M. Sa.lt, S. Tunnel!, M. J. Barrett, A. Eustace, W. Best, C. E.
