EXCELSIOR!

BARROW TOURISTS.

LUKEY AND SCHOFIELD.

RECEPTION IN WEU&INGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The barrow tourists Messrs. L. G. Lukey and J. C. Schofield completed their journey from Auckland thk. morning, arriving at Thorndon at 11.45 a.m. The pair were met by numbers of motorists and cyclists, and the route to the community sing, organised by the Mayor's Relief Committee, where they made an appearance, was thronged by thousands of people. Mr. Seholield said they had had an enjoyable holiday, and were sorry the trip was over. The hospitality received along the route had been wonderful. Both men look particularly well after accomplishing their self-imposed task in 31 days.

Tho route taken by Messrs. Lukey and Scliofiekl makes the distance of the trip about 520 miles, so in completing it in 31 days they have averaged nearly 17 miles a day. Mr. Lukey stated on Saturday that if he had been out for "time." he could have done the journey much faster, and it is quite evident that ho could. Probably he could have completed the trip in 17 to 18 days. However, latterly he has not been going all out, mainly to suit arrangemente made in some of the towns through which the men and their barrow have passed.
