BUTCHERS' AWARD.
AGREEMENT LIKELY. On all points except wages and one or two minor items an agreement wa« reached yesterday when the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. P. Hally, sat to hear an application by the Auckland Butchers' Industrial Union of Workers for a fresh award. The assessors for the worker? were Messrs. C. Rowntree, W. E. Sil! and A. The parties" cited numbered 140 and with the exception of wages the whole of the important clauses, which were practically on the lines of the existing award, were asrreed to, the matter of wages being held over pending the hearing: of a dispute concerning another branch of the industry. It is likely that a complete arrangement will be arrived ajt and a recommendation made to the Arbitration Court, which sits in Auckland''in October.
