BUSINESS IS FAIR. COMMERCIAL BANKS IMPROVE. Though a quieter tone prevails on the Auckland Stock Exchange business maintains a fair level. At this morning's call the insurance section was dull. The only inquiry was for Nationals, -which were quoted between £1 0/5 and £1 1/. In the banking section Commercials continued to recover some of the loss sustained earlier in the week. There weie buyers ,at 16/4, with holders asking 16/9. New Zealands eased slightly, with a sale 3d lower, at £2 11/, after whicli the market was steady between £2 10/9 and £2 11/ S. Consolidated Brick recovered from the recent easing, with business at 11/6. In Government stocks several parcels changed hands, with late values either maintained or improved upon. Fiji mining shares continue to attract, and Mount Kasis sold 9d higher at £13/, with , more wanted at that figure. Lolomas were quoted between £5 and £6, and Aloha Central was asked for at £33. The Noon Call. Business was fairly active at the noon call, and the promise of the morning was confirmed in the case of Commercial Banks, which changed hands 3d higher, at 16/7, after which the market settled between 16/5 and 16/9. A partial recovery was made by Broken Hill, which came back to a sale at £3 6/6, and buyers still in at £3 6/, and no sellers. Interest in Fiji gold' concerns was sustained. Tavua Developments, after & firmer opening, returned to the overnight level. Mineral Developments hardened and Kotflere improved.
