Dalgety and Company, Limited. Beef. — We .yarded 16S -head of beef, comprising 62 steers and 106 cows and heifers, against 131 head last week. The quality of the offering was the best for some time and, selling under a ready demand, we have to report a further rise of 1/ per 1001b. Extra choice ox sold to 30/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 27/ to 2!)/; just killable, 23/ to 26/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 26/ to 29/; just killable, 19/ to 25/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from. £12 15/ to £13 17/6 for bullocks from the Waikeria Borstal Institute; heavy, £11 15/ to £12 12/6; lighter, £10 to £11 2/6; light, £8 15/ to £9 12/6; small and unfinished, £6 10/ to £8 12/6. Heavv prime cows and heifers, £7 7/6 to £S 7/6; lighter, £6 5/ to £7 5/; others, £3 10/ to £6. Fourteen welj-finished bullocks from the Waikeria Borstal Institute averaged £13 5/9; 8 steers from Mr. H. E. Reed averaged £11 12/2; 7 steers from. Mr. J. Lake averaged £10 6/1. Calves.—Calves were penned in average numbers, the yarding comprising mostly light vealers and small calves. Competition was keen and all classes sold at values verv firm on late rates. Medium runners, £3 to £3 16/; heavv vealers, £3 13/ to £4 6/; medium, £2 15/ to £3; light, £2 2/ to £2 10/; smaller, rough calves, 15/ to £1 S/; bobby, 3/ to 8/. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited. Beef.—At our weekly market to-day we penned cattle to the number of 317 head, comprising 97 steers and 220 cows and heifers. The quality generally was firs' class. Competition was keen throughout and last week's advance was fully sustained. Extra choic ox sold to 29/ per 1001b; choice and . prime, 26/ to 28/; secondary and plain. 22/ to 25/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 25/ to 27/; ordinary, 17/ to 24/. Extra heavy _prinie steers ranged in price from £12 17/6 to £14. Seven steers from Messrs. Blackett Bros.. Te Kowhai. averaged £13 11/; ] from Mr. H. G. Reed. Waerenga. averaged £12 12/10. Heavy prime steers, £11 to £12 15/; lighter, £9 10/ to £10 17/6; light, £S to £9 7'6; small and unfinished, £6 15/ to £7 17/6. Calves. — Xhere was a full yarding of calves, the majority being late vealers and small sorts. The demand was very firm and all classes sold under strong competition at fully late quotations.
