TRACK WORK.
A QUIET MORNING. There was very littte doing at Epsom this morning and practically no fast work was accomplished. -The dirt and sand tracks were in use. Young Rodney was given several rounds of solid jogging and was keen to go faster. He has never looked in better order and appeals as a likely place proposition on Saturday. Auto Machine was not strapped up while executing steady work on the dirt. He was quite free from the soreness that has troubled him lately. When jogged on the lead Mute displayed very evident sign& of soreness in the fetlock joint; and was given only the lightest of exercise. It would not be surprising to note the bay trotter missing from the Royal Oak Handicap on Saturday. Worthy Nor fairly revelled in an essay over a mile and a half and there is no doubt that she is a very fit mare. Her prospects at the meeting are bright. Nimbus was not strapped up over several rounds at a strong pace, but executed his task very freely. The visiting horses, Captain Bolt and Prince Eta wall, have arrived from Hamilton under the charge of H. R. Fisken. While on the journey Captain Bolt took fright and cut himself about badly, but he is expected to start on Saturday. Prince Etawah is very light in condition, and. it is not intended to race him for some time. The Grass Track. If conditions are favourable to-morrow the grass track will be open at Epsom for fast work bet\veen 8.30 and 11 a.m.
