HAWERA HORSES.
HUNT CANDIDATES. PANLOFF AND JUST OFF. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") HAWERA, Tuesday. Hawera stables will be well represented at New Plymouth, on Thursday and Saturday. Preparations have been somewhat retarded by weather conditions, but a number are well forward and the centre can be expected to hold its' own. Mr. W. O. Williams' pair of hunters, Panloff and Just Off, have been responsible for some excellent schooling and may be expected to make good showings in their respective engagements. Panloff . is much the faster, but Just Off is a very reliable fencer. Carfex, wbo had been showing a little soreness, has shaken it off and is going fairly well again. O. Cox's pair, Lowenberg and Fersen, lave been working impressively, especially the former, and both are likely to attract considerable attention. Lowenberg's performance should give some indication of lis Wanganui Guineas prospects. Golden Hair has resumed track work after having: had a. let up since returning from. Riccarton. ; Two-year-old Parade. A feature "of the-.meeting at New/Rly? mouth on Saturday will be the two-year-old parade, when quite a number will take' part. As a prelude to the first youngsters': :race—the Debutante Wanganui —it should cause a lot of interest. Hawera's two-year-old hope Notium is | comporting himself admirably, and this morning was given a run out of the barrier with the colours up. He was rather slow out but soon found his feet, but the ground , was too «heavy .to attach " any importance to timing. . 'Notium will be taken' to New Plymouth for the .jparade and the experience-will serve him for his Northern engagements. He will not be taken to Wanganui.-' ~ The "Vaals maiden Kia Ora will attract attention in the Wereroa Scurry on Thursday. This filly is very speedy and has been working well. Lady Eka, in the same stable, has fashioned into a handsome mare and should show much improved form this season. Ruaform is in great order and has been doing great work-oh-the flat'for a. hurdle horse. He is engagedin the Whenuakura Hack, of seven furlongs,;on Thursday and should run-'prominently in the class. Saturday; will probably see J. Fryer's promising hurdler Soloist in action. Soloist is engaged in. the open six-furlong - event on Thursday. ... ; , ' " R.', Brough is taking his. Colossus—Just So filly up. for the 'parade and F. Ehorn takes up the Gay colt for experience. Brough's: -filly has made marked progress lately, as also has the. Gay Shield colt. -.. .--,■ ' ' ".. V _ C. Jackson resumed 1 acquaintance with' the tracks this morning after a>. considerable absence. Both his horses; Aga Khah.{ and Diagano, were given 6olid pace work,. - Aga Khan is looking particularly well. St. Clara did not shape as well as expected in gallop with Carfex and is an unlikely "starter at 'New Plymouth, although it was intended to take her up for Saturday.. • Mrs. W; D. Graham's youngster Brilgoes up for the parade. In the: final event on Thursday Hawera nolds a strong hand in Alchemic, Loweu4>erg„Baatrjt and Lady Eka.
