PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD.
At the regular meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board a report was received from the works committee stating that storm water gathering at the corner of Hill and Hillside Roads made the footpath impassable for pedestrians. In order to cope with the storm water, the present drain would have to be shifted to the intersection, which would mean an additional 100 feet of piping and an estimated cost of £78 for materials. Mr. W. A. Cairns suggested that, as most of the wet weather was over, the matter be deferred until next year. The chairman. Mr Nicholson, said that if property owners concerned were prepared to contribute toward the cost, the board would proceed with the work immediately. It was decided to refer the matter to the
finance committee to ascertain what portion of ttie cost landowners concerned would be prepared to bear. „ Accounts.—The chairman pointed out that the receipt of the. current yeai"* rates to date had been very satisfactory. The bank overdraft at the last meeting of fhe board was £3170, and accounts totalling £702 were passed for payment. The debit balance at last evening's meeting was reported as £1507. It was pointed out that the last day for obtaining the 5 per cent rebate was August 31.
