MARKET STEADIER. (By Telegraph.—-Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Settling down after the recent disturbance, quotations were closer together but ou a lower level. A substantial sale of 3V» per cent 1938-52 stock was made at £108 17/6, bringing the total to over £10,000 ill two days. The bank section was inactive. Buyers were firmer for Australasias, Commercials of Sydney, and E., S. and A.'s. New South Wales (ex divj, had buyers at £31 17/8 and sellers at £32 10/. Loan and agencies were easier, also Auckland Gas, which were at £1 5/10. For breweries buyers stopped at £2 11,8, and sellers were 3d down, at £2 12/3. Tooth's were closer, with buyers at £2 13/10 and sellers at £2 14/6. Anthony Horderns were steady, with buyers at 19/5. Buvers of Australian Glass shares increased their offers to £4 1/3, and sellers asked 1/ more. Australian Iron and Steel had a better inquiry at £1 4/5. Broken Hill Proprietary had a sale and sellers at £3 5/. Claude Neon (N.Z.) had business at £2 3/6, an advance on previous local business. Coles, Kauri Timbers and Dunlops were easier. Big Rivers were active at 1/11% and Mahakipawas at 2d. Mount Lyells and Mount Morgans were slightly easier. Upper Watut had buyers at >/ and Emperor at £1 4/6. (By Telegraph—Press Association.)
